Hypertension "the Silent Killer"
By cepat sehat|21 April 2024|Penyakit
It is called "the silent killer" because hypertension does not cause any symptoms, and the symptoms that appear are due to other causes such as headaches, aches and pains in the neck and shoulder area, nausea (all of these symptoms that appear can be due to lack of sleep, being late eating, psychological stress, getting caught in the rain, tiredness from using a cellphone/computer/television for hours, and so on).
CONTROL & CONTROL HYPERTENSION RISK FACTORS
There are several common causes that increase the risk of developing hypertension, including:
A. Internal factors
- Congenital/congenital disorders – abnormalities of body organs/blood vessels that are acquired from birth, such as Takayasu Disease which can affect children and teenagers.
- Psychological – stress, excessive anxiety from our minds regarding a problem/conflict we are facing. The problems in question can be in the economic, social and other domains. Stressful psychological conditions will cause excessive stimulation of the child's kidney hormones / adrenaline, which in turn will cause the blood vessels to shrink, thereby increasing blood pressure throughout the body. And it also increases heart frequency, which has the same impact, namely increasing blood flow pumped from the heart throughout the body so that blood pressure increases.
B. External Factors
- Salt intake in the routine diet every day, according to WHO recommendations, is 1 teaspoon/person/day or around 5 grams/person per day. So this can be a concern when considering the ready-made/ready-to-eat foods you want to buy. Or ask the cook not to use a lot of salt before processing/cooking when ordering food at a restaurant/dining house.
- Reduce drinking coffee and tea because both contain caffeine which can increase heart rate in some people.
- For those who are accustomed to using sweet soy sauce, salty soy sauce and instant noodle products, it is recommended to reduce their consumption because the salt content contained in them is quite high. It's best to study the amount of salt stated on the packaging.
ROUTINE MEDICAL CONTROL CHECK UP EVERY YEAR
So because it doesn't have specific symptoms, it is a symptom of a disease that we need to be aware of. It is recommended that you regularly carry out regular health checks at a health facility that has a special Medical Check Up service or you can do it yourself using a digital blood pressure device that is easily available in online and offline stores, especially for people over 40 years old. As an early detection effort if abnormalities are found in the examination results from normal values in general.
If you routinely carry out your own blood pressure, and get blood pressure examination results that are above normal after several repeated measurements, then immediately consult a doctor at the nearest health facility or consult online with a doctor via telemedicine to get fast and appropriate treatment.
